Ledge is a monochrome image of Hexham Abbey, captured as the sun set on a summer evening in 2023.

The Abbey is the heart of Hexham. It towers over the marketplace in the centre of town. All roads seem to be leading to it or away from it. It was built using a warm local sandstone. Whether it was convenience or design that made them select the stone, it seems deliberate many hundreds of years later - the way the walls catch the light beautifully in the early evening as the bells ring and the pigeons are spooked.
