Stance make socks. But, the way they make socks, the people they work with, the way they collaborate and the ethos that underpins it all, means they do a whole lot more.
For their Hood to Trail project, they worked with three urban running crews from around Europe - The Wolfpack (Copenhagen), Run Dem Crew (London), and Patta Running (Rotterdam) - to encourage and facilitate a large group of street runners transitioning to trail running. Everyone met in Lyon before heading south to Chamonix where we got to watch the end of the UTMB for inspiration. Then the work started - practice runs and masterclasses with experienced trail runners in and out of the valleys and mountains around Chamonix, culminating with a monster hike up to a mountain refuge for an overnight stay.
I was there to capture the whole experience in still images, working alongside two extremely talented filmmakers as they produced a documentary charting the groups progress - a film that has since gone on to play at doc festivals world wide. It was a pleasure and a privelege to work alongside such a wonderful bunch of people, and an experience I will never forget.
