Recently I have been spending time along our country’s coastline as a break away from hiking and the mountains and also to learn and develop my skills as a long exposure photographer. I am in awe of some of the shooters around the UK who are true masters in working with water, playing with the unique light one experiences on the coast and using shutter speeds and other elements of photography to capture movement and drama and mood. I am still a novice, and so I am still excited by the prospect of stillness and the highly stylised results of playing with exposures that freeze the seas around our battered Isle. I daresay I will be for some time. This is a long term project therefore, where I practice and develop ways of contrasting the shifting nature of water against fixed points be they natural or manmade, old or new, wherever I find the opportunity.
